Origin: Unearthed from a cellar at Qingshanqiao, Xiangtan in 1979

Zun is a kind of wine vessel. This zun has common features from the Central Plain in shape and designs, with inscription“lv fu jia(旅父甲)”in the interior of vessel, meaning it is a vessel that belonged to the Family “旅” in the early Western Zhou Dynasty. Because it was the only one unearthed from the Xiangtan area, together with different vessels of family “戈”, most archeologists believe it belongs to the ancient Yue people. The origin should have further study. According to the time of latest vessel unearthed in the same cellar we can be sure it is from the late Western Zhou Dynasty. So the time of this Zun coming to the area of Xiangjiang River is from the early Western Zhou Dynasty to late Western Zhou Dynasty. While there are several possibilities for consideration for the way to come here: it could have been brought here by people in the Central Plain, it could have been brought here through trade, or it could have been robbed by native people. No matter what kind of method was used, we can be sure that the region of Xiangjiang River communicated with the Central Plain in the Western Zhou Dynasty.
