This paper is a review of forty years of research on the occupants of the Han tombs at Mawangdui, focuses on the new view concerning Lixi – the occupant of Tomb 3 – and the support of this view from most experts and scholars. The current situation is that the identity of the occupant of Tomb 2 has been determined and that the identity of the occupants of Tombs 1 and 3 seems to have been concluded as well.
