Embroidered skirt with flower and bird design from the Miao ethnic group
Date:Republic Period(1912-1949)
Dimensions:Length: 72 cm; Width: 82 cm
Origin:Product of Sanjiang District in Fenghuang County
This skirt is made of embroidered pieces patched together, so the whole skirt shows complicated, grandiose and bright-colored pattern. The transmuted flower and bird pattern formed by the embroidered pieces is called “leek flower” by folks. A careful look will enable one to recognize a pattern of transformed phoenix and peony. The style is influenced by the embroidery of the Miao ethnic group in Guizhou.
